Creative Living currently has no apartment openings, but our waiting list remains open and applications are welcome. Because resident turnover is limited and unpredictable, applicants should currently anticipate that the wait may be 18 months or longer. Some applicants may be contacted sooner, while others may wait longer.

Placement on the waiting list does not guarantee housing or a specific move-in date. Apartments are offered according to our Tenant Selection Plan, which considers application date and time, applicable preferences, and qualifying resident transfers.

Applicants receive quarterly notice of their waitlist position and will be contacted directly when an appropriate apartment becomes available. Because future turnover cannot be predicted, staff cannot provide a more precise estimate through additional status calls. Please keep your contact information current, notify us of any change that may affect a preference, and respond to each quarterly notice to remain on the waiting list.

RESIDENCY CRITERIA

Becoming Part of Our Community

All applicants for residency at Creative Living must meet the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Subsidized Multifamily Housing eligibility requirements and submit to reference, credit and background checks.

Furthermore, Creative Living abides by all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to fair housing, including but not limited to the Fair Housing Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title VI of the Civil Rights Acts of 1964.

RESIDENCY APPLICATION

MINIMUM RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS

Have a low, very low or extremely low income.
Be at least 18 years old.
Be disabled – defined as a person having an impairment which
- is expected to be of long, continued and indefinite duration;
- substantially impedes his/her ability to live independently; and
- is of such nature that the disability could be improved by more suitable housing conditions.
An applicant’s physical disability may be the result of a birth defect, disease or traumatic injury but his/her medical condition must be stable, even though the disability is permanent. Furthermore, the individual should have goals for realizing his/her potential and have the maturity and skills to manage his/her life.

PREFERENCES

Preference will be given to persons with a physical disability who use a wheelchair for mobility.
Preference will be given to faculty, staff and students of The Ohio State University
Preference will be given to persons who live or work in Franklin County.
- Applicants who currently work in Franklin County
- Applicants who have been hired to work in Franklin County
- Applicants who are expected to live in the jurisdiction as a result of planned employment.
- Creative Living treats graduates of, or active participants in, education and training programs located in Franklin County as residents of the area.
