MAX'S BRIGADE
A Legacy Built Upon the Power of Many – Started by the Inspiration of One
Max’s Brigade is the reimagined and expanded volunteer and donor program of Creative Living. Inspired by the legacy of Dick “Max” Maxwell, the brigade brings together donors, volunteers, families, and community supporters to foster connection, support residents, and strengthen the Creative Living community. Members can contribute through financial donations, in-kind gifts, or volunteer service, with funds helping to support resident programs, social activities, and emergency assistance through the Resident Relief Fund.

Max’s Brigade honors the legacy of Dick “Max” Maxwell, whose vision helped inspire the creation of Creative Living and a community built on independence, opportunity, and belonging. More than a program, Max’s Brigade brings together the many people who make our mission possible—donors, volunteers, in-kind supporters, families, friends, staff, and advocates. United under one banner, Brigade members help enrich resident life through meaningful experiences, responsive support, and acts of kindness that strengthen community. Together, their collective generosity creates opportunities, fosters connection, and ensures that Creative Living remains a warm, welcoming place where residents can live inspired, empowered, and independent lives.
BECOME A MEMBER
Join the Brigade in Several Ways
Your support of Max’s Brigade can consist of one, two or all three facets of the program: Sustaining, In-Kind and/or Volunteer.
Sustaining Member: Help fund resident social activities and boost the Resident Relief Fund, providing grants to lessen the burden of major, unexpected expenses.
In-Kind Donor: Assist by providing gifts or special treats and surprises designed to brighten a resident’s day or provide a welcome diversion.
Volunteer: Support the efforts of the Creative Living staff by giving your time for a variety of activities throughout the year.
In Recent Years, Max's Brigade Has Supported:
EVENTS
Complimentary tickets for sporting events as well as events like the Ohio State Fair are provided to residents through Max's Brigade.
COMMUNITY
Volunteers from several organizations around Ohio assist with Spring and Fall clean-up projects at both facilities.
COOK-OUTS
Besides new grills and supplies, Max's Brigade supported mutliple cook-outs and tailgate events for residents, their families, and their care teams.
